1in10 is about enabling the church community to go out and serve the local community in a practical way. It is designed for anyone to come and lend a hand, and the idea is to “tithe your time”, or donate one Saturday morning from 7:30 till 12:30 every 10 weeks.

We meet at 7:30 for a hearty breakfast, and then proceed in groups to the work-sites where we do painting, gardening, small construction projects, repairs and maintenance. Teams usually consist of 5+ people, and we welcome all who are interested.For those who prefer to show love with food, we have the 1in10 Community Meals Freezer! We come together every tenth Saturday to cook up a batch of delicious meals which we then freeze, ready to give to people in our community who suddenly face a crisis such as illness or loss of a loved one.

The challenge of 1in10 is best answered in the question, "If our church packed up and left Blackwood, would anyone notice that it was gone?" There are many needs in our community, and we believe God wants us to show His love by our deeds and actions as much as our words.
